Things to do in Pyhä
Pyhä is the ski-station side of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, roughly 120 km from Rovaniemi and about 1h30 by road. It is a compact village at the foot of the fells, built around a lift system serving alpine runs and marked trails into the park, including the walk to Isokuru, one of Finland's deepest gorges.
It is a separate village from Luosto, the park's other side, reached by an internal road some 10-15 km away: book activities on the side you are actually staying on.
In winter (roughly December to April) the village runs alpine skiing, cross-country tracks, snowshoeing and snowmobile safaris from around 100 to 200 EUR per person for a half-day guided trip; in summer, hiking into the Pyhäkuru gorge and mountain biking on the fell trails are the main draws. Northern lights trips run from late August to early April but are never guaranteed, whatever the season.
