Things to do in Levi

Levi is Finland's largest ski resort and the tourism hub of the western fells, built for visitors rather than lived in like Rovaniemi. The pedestrian centre sits at the foot of Levitunturi (531 m), with lifts running roughly from November to May and around a dozen floodlit slopes for night skiing in winter. Outside the ski season the fell becomes a hiking and mountain-bike base instead.

Dozens of operators here sell snowmobile safaris, husky and reindeer sledding, and northern lights trips, making Levi a busier, pricier alternative to booking directly in Rovaniemi. It's 170 km from Rovaniemi, about 2 hours 30 minutes by road; Kittilä, 15 km away, has the nearest airport and banks, while Äkäslompolo and Ylläs, both under an hour further west, offer quieter bases and access to Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park.
