Things to do in Luosto

Luosto is not Pyhä. The two villages sit on the same national park and share a connecting road, but each runs its own ski area and its own cluster of activities, so check which one your booking actually lands you in.

Luosto is the smaller of the pair: a scatter of chalets, a couple of restaurants and direct access to the Lampivaara amethyst mine, a short drive above the village. From here, marked trails climb onto the surrounding fells for half-day walks with views back over the forest.

In winter, guests sleep in glass igloos or wilderness cabins built for watching the sky; aurora displays run from late August to early April and are never guaranteed on any given night. Rovaniemi is about 120 km south, roughly a two-hour drive.
