Things to do at Kakslauttanen

Kakslauttanen is a resort a few kilometres outside Saariselka, best known for its glass igloos, where you watch the sky from bed, and its separate snow and ice igloos. A night in a glass igloo typically runs from around 400 to 900 EUR depending on season and igloo grade, while snow igloo suites can push past 1,000 EUR in peak weeks.

Rates swing hard with the calendar: December to March is highest and books out months ahead, with glass igloos regularly showing no availability by autumn if you leave it late. Aurora sightings from the glass roof are a chance, not a guarantee, whatever the price tag; the resort's own aurora alarm wakes guests when activity is detected, but clear skies and solar activity are outside anyone's control.

Reindeer and husky sledding, a smoke sauna and an on-site restaurant are bookable separately, generally 50 to 150 EUR per activity.
