Things to do in Inari
Inari sits on the shore of its namesake lake about 330 km north of Rovaniemi, a four-hour drive that puts it well beyond day-trip range.
This is the administrative and cultural centre of Finland's Sámi, home to the Sámi Parliament, a scattering of craft shops selling genuine duodji work, and a handful of hotels and guesthouses rather than the dense hotel strip you find in Rovaniemi. The Siida museum and Lake Inari itself each have their own detailed pages here; this one covers the village.
Outside the June-to-August season, several cafes and shops keep shorter hours or close altogether, so ring ahead in shoulder months. Inari also works as the last proper services stop before Utsjoki (120 km) and Nuorgam (170 km) further north.
